I loved English from my first lesson and I started to learn it myself when I was six. I was really lucky as my first teacher was an American girl who was very enthusiastic about teaching and really loved kids. I felt I learned a lot in two years spent in her class. Her lessons were very interesting, we were really young kids who had been at school just for a few months and we preferred playing to sitting in the classroom. I think she knew children's souls perfectly, so we did a lot of interesting quizzes and games, we learned a lot and we really loved learning this way.

I believe that this is the way that really works, learning should not be something that is boring for you and it should go easily.  I will try my best to find the way of learning which suits you perfectly and which you will like. I want you to have fun while learning. I am happy when my students say: "It went really fast today, we would not mind going on learning for a few more minutes." I think a good lesson should be like reading a good book or watching a nice film, you should broaden your horizons, have fun, enjoy the lesson, and ideally look forward to another one.

I was blessed with another amazing teacher while studying the high school, we were given a teacher called Craig who was a great fun and a very clever man. He has travelled extensively in his life and he was able to tell us about all amazing places on the planet he has been to. I was truly amazed and I was really looking forward to every lesson with him.

After the high school, I spent a year studying language school aimed at English language, English history and French language. After that, at the age of nineteen, I started the university, my majors were English language and English history. My university opinion is divided, there were subjects I was really looking forward to but some of the teachers just were not knowledgeable enough or were not able to make subject interesting enough so I was not a big fan of some of the lectures. On the other hand, there were subject which seemed to be quite boring but the personality  and an attitude of a teacher brightened up the lecture completely. My university studies was the time when I fully understood that knowledge is important but so is a teacher, his personality, his enthusiasm about subject and his ability to make learning fun and interesting for students.

After the university, I started my own teaching career, I have taught many individual students as well as group courses and I have taught many students from very young learners to adults. My youngest student I have taught so far was three years old and was missing his mum while having the lessons while some of my students were in their sixties and seventies. I have enjoyed teaching little toddlers as well as adults and I have learned a lot from both. I hope my students enjoyed the lessons, had fun and learned what they needed. I always tried my best to make lessons interesting for them as well as pass knowledge of English language and culture on them.

I started teaching English at language schools in 2004  and it was a great opportunity to try if the teaching is really for me. At the beginning of my teacher career, I lead many lessons for junior school students who needed extra lessons, usually because the pace of learning English in their school class was too fast for them. After this experience, I started to teach students from different companies, there were usually Business English lessons focused on useful phrases for meeting international clients. These students were adult people, usually at the age of 40 - 50 and it was very interesting to see how adults acquire the language in a very different way than children.

I have also taught students who were trying to prepare for studying abroad or who were preparing for one of English exams, as FCE, CAE, CPE or IELTS are. These were lessons which were quite demanding, because these are usually students who has a certain time limit in the future where they have to take the examination.

Some of my other students were people who loved travelling and did not feel confident enough to travel by themselves without decent knowledge of English. These were very interesting lessons which I probably liked the best, we were trying to learn useful phrases for communication at the airport, in the hotel or in the restaurant. I was very pleased when some of my students came back from holiday saying that they felt much better and more relaxed while being on holiday because they knew how to book a hotel or ask for directions in English and did not feel limited in communication in a foreign language any more.

All the lessons I have mentioned above, are the types of lesson I am most familiar with. I am happy to try a new type of lesson, too. Working with different types of students is a great challenge and it is very rewarding to hear my students saying that the knowledge of English helped them in their lives and that they feel more confident.

My life in UK

I have been really lucky because I was able to move to United Kingdom 14 months ago so I am able to explore England beautiful parts of this country as well as its people. It has always been something I wanted to do, I always felt I have a lot of English theory in my mind which would need to be topped up with a proper practical knowledge of Great Britain. Here I am now, so I am trying my best to explore the country which has beautiful history. I have seen many places that were on my list and I still have a lot of places I would like to visit and that are waiting for my exploration. If you would like to read a little bit more about places I have visited so far, you will find their history in the section 'Articles'.

I can see that stay in England has broaden my English knowledge extensively and it is great fun to explore the all the places we learnt about at the university. It is also very interesting to see if some of the well - known "English things" are correct, for example to see if English people are so passionate about tea or if it rains here so much as it is said in all jokes about UK. Tea is definitely correct, all English people I have met so far love tea. With regards to weather, it is not bad at all and summer 2013 was just beautiful.

My Teaching Career

One of my journeys took me to Africa. It is the place that touched my heart and changed my view of life and taught me a lot about myself. We have met many clever children who were longing for education and meeting and talking to them and being able to see life from their perspective has been one of the best experiences in my life.

Elinka is one of my best students and dearest frineds at the same time. She was able to master English just within a year!
